A property management company in Claremont is looking for an experienced Bookkeeper / Financial Accountant to join their team.
This opportunity is well suited to someone with a strong finance background, experience handling municipal and utility accounts, and the ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements
✔ Qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
✔ Previous experience in property accounting or utilities billing
✔ Good understanding of municipal billing systems and calculations
✔ Strong working knowledge of:
- Pastel Accounting
- Microsoft Excel (advanced level)
✔ Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
✔ Able to manage large volumes of work efficiently
✔ Excellent communication and attention to detail
Main Duties
Utilities & Billing
- Manage and process more than 2,000 utility accounts each month
- Check and verify municipal bills for accuracy
- Ensure tenants are billed correctly and payments are processed on time
- Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies when needed
Municipal Queries & Reconciliations
- Communicate with municipalities regarding account issues and disputes
- Follow up on billing corrections, reconciliations, and adjustments
- Keep detailed records of all account-related communication
Financial Administration
- Assist in overseeing the junior bookkeeper
- Review financial information for accuracy
- Compile monthly reconciliations and financial reports
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes where required
